VP and Principal Analyst Thomas Husson has offered insights regarding Samsung’s Unpacked on Thursday and its presentation of the new Galaxy S21 devices:

“Samsung had no choice but to regain technology and innovation leadership in the premium smartphone market after Apple’s iPhone 12 momentum at the end of last year.

The new range of Galaxy S21 flagship devices gives Samsung a great window of opportunity to catch-up with improved camera and video capabilities, and a stronger performance at all levels. Samsung seems to have made great progress in designing a customer-centric experience in at least two key areas.

Firstly, Samsung offers a much more seamless and integrated experience with its ecosystem of devices with the new premium Galaxy Buds Pro, the integration of Smart Things to control devices in your home, with Smart Tag to locate non-connected devices, or with the S Pen.

Secondly, I really like the fact that Samsung is taking a human-centric design approach and leveraging AI behind the scenes to improve the user-experience. The new photography and video experience with the Director’s View, the vlogger view or the ability to take snapshots of 8K video capture are good examples of these more advanced capabilities.”
