Laith Ulaby

Director of Research, Udemy

Laith Ulaby is Director of Research at Udemy, where he leads the user research and market research teams. He previously worked in user research at AnswerLab, Google, Shyp, Uber, and the United Nations Centre for Humanitarian Data. After completing his PhD in ethnographic research, Laith made the jump to applied research through a Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship with a think tank in Washington, D.C., focused on international partnership building. Laith has spoken at more than a dozen academic and industry conferences, including SXSW, and has been a guest speaker at universities, including NYU, UC San Diego, and the University of Michigan School of Information.

Laith’s passion for education extends beyond his work at Udemy, and he also serves as a lecturer at the UC Berkeley School of Information and the UC Berkeley Extension, teaching human-centered design and research methods. In the past, Laith was a lecturer at UCLA, the Georgetown School of Foreign Service, and the University of Redlands.
