I’ve dedicated a fair number of research cycles to understanding quantum computers over the last 18 months because I believe they eventually will be revolutionary. That said, I think they have a long way to go, as I explain in my recent blog post about IBM’s quantum computing announcement at CES 2019. In this podcast, I present an alternative point of view by interviewing Ray Beausoleil from HPE, a company that actually walked away from its early quantum computing research in favor of technologies it thinks will offer more near-term solutions to accelerate the training of deep neural networks and solve traveling-salesman-type optimization problems.

For my readers who like to stay at the leading edge of emerging technology, this podcast will satisfy your appetite for a deep technical discussion, as well as offer some fascinating insight into the future of next-generation computing. It’s about 20 minutes long, but for those of you without that kind of time, you can listen to it at 1.25x or 1.5x and still get the major points. Enjoy!
