Over the last five years, most large enterprises have slowly but surely matured from being data-aware to data-driven. They all collect data from operational and transactional applications; process the data into data lakes, data hubs, data warehouses, and data marts; and build business intelligence (BI) and analytics applications to understand what the data is telling them. That’s our definition of being data-driven. But are these enterprises transforming the signals they get from the data into actionable insights? And are these actions producing tangible business outcomes? That’s the next level of maturity that Forrester calls insights-driven business.

Get away from the winter cold, and join my colleagues and I in sunny Orlando, Florida on December 4–5 at our Data Strategy & Insights 2018 Forum. There’ll be many exciting sessions with tons of actionable advice on how to transform your organization to being insights-driven. Specifically, my session will showcase our latest three-part research series on modernizing your BI environment — modern BI architecture and technology being a key capability of an insights-driven business. Then, I’ll be joined by three leading BI vendors with very different technologies — Arcadia Data, Information Builders, and TIBCO Software — that will demonstrate their data-to-actionable-insights capabilities in live, side-by-side demos.
